Legal Intern

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential European defense technology organization in their search for a Legal Intern based in Paris. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience in one of the most dynamic and strategically important sectors—working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, international defense systems, and complex regulatory frameworks.

You will work directly with senior leadership on substantive legal matters spanning contracts, intellectual property, corporate governance, and compliance. This is not a document-filing role—you will draft real agreements, conduct critical legal research, support IP portfolio management, and contribute to compliance projects across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

Contracts & Commercial Law

• Draft, review, and proofread commercial agreements including NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontracting arrangements, and client contracts
• Maintain and update contract template libraries and registers
• Track contract execution timelines, signature deadlines, and renewal schedules
• Support preparation of responses to client contractual requirements and RFP legal sections
• Conduct targeted legal research on contractual and regulatory questions

Intellectual Property

• Support management of the organization's IP portfolio including patent tracking, invention disclosure drafting, and coordination with external patent attorneys
• Conduct freedom-to-operate research and prior art searches on technical areas
• Monitor the competitive IP landscape across defense AI and related domains
• Draft IP clauses for contracts, partnership agreements, and employment documentation
• Maintain IP registers and filing calendars

Corporate Law & Compliance

• Support maintenance of a multi-entity corporate structure spanning France, UK, US, and other jurisdictions
• Assist in preparation of corporate documents including board resolutions, shareholder documentation, and equity-related paperwork
• Contribute to GDPR/RGPD compliance projects: processing records, DPA updates, privacy policy reviews
• Support export control compliance research across French, US, and EU regulations
• Assist in legal due diligence preparation for fundraising processes

Legal Research & Monitoring

• Conduct targeted research on defense procurement law, French corporate law, IP law, and international trade regulations
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to defense technology, EU defense funding, and export controls
• Produce clear, structured legal memos summarizing research findings for counsel and leadership
• Assist in preparation of briefing notes for partner meetings and institutional interactions

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a Master's programme in law (M1 or M2): business law, IP law, international law, or dual law/engineering or law/political science programme
• Top-tier institution preferred: Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris II Assas, Sciences Po, HEC Droit des Affaires, or equivalent
• Available for a 3 to 6 month internship
• Genuine interest in technology, defense, deep technology, or international security—you care about the sector and the mission, not just legal mechanics
• Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment across multiple legal domains
• Fluency in French and English
