Head of Business Development – New Materials & Applications

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential advanced materials organization in their search for a Head of Business Development to lead commercial transformation and market development initiatives. In this role, you will:

• Drive business transformation efforts to develop new revenue streams in battery materials and specialty products
• Engage with end users, OEMs, and ecosystem partners to generate leads and expand technology applications in energy storage and electrification
• Manage and cultivate relationships with existing customers to maintain satisfaction and deepen commercial partnerships
• Develop and execute bankable business plans to deliver on division growth targets and commercial policy objectives
• Direct technical and market intelligence teams, assessing risk and tracking upstream/downstream markets including battery, aerospace, medical, energy, optical, electronics, and chemicals sectors
• Lead market analysis, strategy development, and commercial transformation projects
• Build and manage a high-performance, entrepreneurial team
• Support the Division Executive Director on strategic work streams as required

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• University degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering preferred
• 7-10 years of experience in business development and commercial transformation, ideally from a top-tier management consulting firm or multiple industries related to new materials and applications
• Proven track record negotiating and closing supply agreements in B2B environments
• Excellent organizational, strategic planning, and implementation skills
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and creative problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional presentation, verbal communication, writing, and editing skills
• Experience managing teams with ability to assign work, delegate, problem-solve, and evaluate performance
• High level of critical and logical thinking to identify underlying principles and overcome internal challenges
• Ability to manage overlapping projects and follow through to completion
• English language fluency mandatory; Portuguese beneficial but not essential
