Data Management Specialist

Overview

We are representing a confidential government organization seeking a Data Management Specialist for a contract opportunity across multiple Australian cities. This SFIA Level 6 position requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain Baseline Clearance.

Location: Offsite role available from Canberra, Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, or Perth

Contract Duration: Initial term from 19 February 2024 to 31 March 2025, with two possible 12-month extensions

Citizenship Requirement: Australian Citizens only with ability to obtain Baseline Clearance

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage processes for regular and consistent access to departmental information across multiple sources
• Create and maintain data pipelines to connect data within and between data stores, applications, and organizations
• Carry out data quality and validation checking to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Plan data modelling and design activities, selecting appropriate techniques and level of detail
• Apply visualization techniques and design the content and appearance of data visuals using Power BI
• Operationalize and automate activities for efficient and timely production of data visuals
• Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders using data structures and associated components
• Align and streamline data from multiple sources and legacy systems

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience in data analysis and Power BI reporting
• Strong understanding of data modelling and data quality concepts
• Proven experience with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX and data modelling
• Demonstrated proficiency with Power Query and DAX functions
• Experience aligning and streamlining data from multiple sources and legacy systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Australian citizenship (evidence required for onboarding)
• Ability to obtain Baseline security clearance

Desirable:

• Previous experience working in portfolio management office environments
• Experience with financial management reporting
