About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential mid-sized manufacturing organization in southwestern Germany seeking a Managing Director for Sales and Service (m/f/d) based in the Freiburg im Breisgau region. Our client operates technical service operations across multiple German locations and is looking for an entrepreneurial leader to drive growth and innovation in their measurement and control technology service division.

This is a senior leadership role with full P&L responsibility, working alongside another Managing Director to build market presence, expand the customer base, and scale service delivery across three locations. You will have the autonomy to shape strategy while maintaining a hands-on approach to execution.

Responsibilities

• Overall strategic and operational responsibility for sales and market development across the service division
• Lead, motivate, and develop distributed sales and service teams across multiple locations
• Stabilize existing customer relationships and actively develop new market opportunities
• Identify and expand application areas for technical services, including digitalization of measurement and control systems
• Analyze market trends, competitors, and evolving customer needs to inform strategy
• Own pricing strategies, proposal development, and contract negotiations
• Represent the organization at trade fairs, conferences, and industry events
• Recruit and build key positions within the service and technical operations teams
• Ensure high service quality, customer proximity, and strong market presence
• Develop and scale the service portfolio to drive sustainable growth
• Work closely with the parent company on strategic alignment
• Manage budgets, achievement of targets, and operational excellence
• Continuously evolve the product and service portfolio based on market feedback

What We're Looking For

Professional Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience as Sales Director, Managing Director, or Division Head in an industrial environment with a focus on market development and sales
• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Electrical) or Industrial Engineering with technical focus
• Knowledge of industrial services, engineering, or measurement and control technology (MSR)
• Demonstrated experience building and developing service organizations
• Sales experience in technically sophisticated service offerings
• Experience managing multiple locations and heterogeneous teams (field-based and office-based)
• Strong business acumen and strategic planning capabilities
• Excellent product management skills for technical services and solutions
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Customer-oriented mindset with sensitivity to market changes and trends
