About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in their search for a Finance & Reconciliation Analyst to join their Safeguarding function. This role sits at the intersection of regulatory compliance, financial controls, and payments infrastructure—offering you the chance to work on meaningful reconciliations that protect customer funds and ensure adherence to FCA safeguarding obligations.

You'll perform daily and periodic reconciliations, investigate exceptions, support external audit activities, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. If you're detail-oriented, curious about how payments regulation works in practice, and ready to make an impact in a fast-growing environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review daily and periodic safeguarding reconciliations across customer funds, balances, and transactions
  • Monitor reconciliation outputs, conduct post-review checks, and complete manual follow-up activities
  • Investigate breaks and exceptions, escalating issues as needed and tracking them through to resolution
  • Maintain accurate records, supporting documentation, and clear audit trails
  • Collate and prepare management information on reconciliations and exceptions for governance forums including the Safeguarding Committee
  • Extract, check, and present data clearly using spreadsheets and internal systems
  • Identify patterns in exceptions or recurring issues and flag them to the team
  • Contribute to reconciliations-related projects, including system changes, tooling improvements, and process redesign
  • Prepare and organize documentation, evidence packs, and reconciliation outputs for external audit
  • Respond to auditor queries and requests in a timely and accurate manner

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in reconciliations, payments, finance operations, or a similar role
  • Strong proficiency working with data and spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel)
  • A methodical and accurate approach with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain findings clearly to colleagues and external auditors
  • Genuine interest in how financial services and payments regulation works in practice
  • A passion for solving problems in practical and innovative ways
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Self-starter attitude—you take initiative and don't wait to be told what to do next
  • Valid right to work in the United Kingdom (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)

This role is ideal for you if: You're genuinely curious about fintech and payments infrastructure, you enjoy working with data and understanding systems, you're excited by the responsibility of maintaining financial controls and regulatory compliance, and you thrive in a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.

This role may not be the best fit if: You struggle working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, you do not enjoy detailed analytical or investigative work, you prefer working in isolation rather than collaborating across teams, or you're not interested in the practical application of financial regulation.
