Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor – Data Center Construction

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor for data center construction projects in Columbus, Ohio. This full-time position offers the opportunity to manage project budgets, control costs, and deliver measurable value across complex, fast-paced construction environments.

Position Summary

As Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee financial performance and cost control for data center construction initiatives serving the Columbus region. Your expertise in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and construction cost management will directly impact project profitability and stakeholder outcomes. This role requires technical precision, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration among design, construction, and procurement teams.

Core Duties

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering documentation
• Monitor and control project budgets across all construction phases and cost streams
• Analyze cost implications of design changes and identify value engineering opportunities
• Review and manage subcontractor quotes, bids, and cost proposals
• Produce regular cost reports, variance analyses, and forecasts for project stakeholders
• Perform quantity surveying functions including material measurements and competitive pricing
• Support contract administration with cost-related documentation and dispute resolution
• Integrate schedule and cost data to support accurate project financial reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, quantity surveying, civil engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 3–5 years of cost management, quantity surveying, or construction estimating experience
• Knowledge of data center or industrial construction strongly preferred
• Proficiency with cost estimating software and construction management platforms
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex, concurrent cost analyses
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional certification (RICS, ACA, or equivalent) a plus
