About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for a CBO Certified Coder II. Our talent team is seeking an experienced professional coder to join this facility's health information management department. This is a remote position based in the United States, working with a client that values both clinical excellence and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes for outpatient encounters
- Code all assigned outpatient record types on a daily basis
- Monitor assigned charge review work queues to ensure timely processing
- Maintain coding performance that meets departmental accuracy and productivity targets for each record type
- Support billing staff by answering coding questions and assisting with denial resolution
- Respond to coding inquiries from internal and external customers, including business office and physician practices
- Request additional documentation from physicians as needed to ensure complete and accurate coding
- Participate in continuing education programs and departmental meetings
- May assist with coding audits as requested
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to compliance guidelines
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred
- 3-5 years of physician-based coding experience required
- Active certification as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, AAPC specialty certification, or RCC (Radiology Coding Certification)
- Commitment to maintaining continuing education hours to sustain certification
- Pediatric multi-specialty coding experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of ICD and CPT coding guidelines and compliance standards
- Ability to work independently while meeting accuracy and productivity standards
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with physicians, billing staff, and other stakeholders
