Bosch Group is seeking a Principal Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to architect and lead the development of AI-powered cockpit systems. This is a full-time, remote opportunity based in Plymouth, MI, US, designed for a senior technologist ready to drive innovation in intelligent automotive solutions.

Position Summary

As Principal Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer for the AI Cockpit initiative, you'll own the technical vision and execution of machine learning systems that transform in-vehicle intelligence and user experience. This principal-level role combines hands-on technical development with strategic leadership, requiring both deep AI expertise and the ability to guide engineering teams, shape product direction, and deliver high-impact solutions at scale.

Core Duties

• Design, develop, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms for automotive cockpit applications and in-vehicle AI systems
• Lead the technical roadmap and architecture for AI-driven features, ensuring alignment with product goals and technical excellence
• Collaborate across product, hardware, firmware, and data teams to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into vehicle platforms
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering innovation and a culture of technical rigor within the team
• Evaluate emerging ML frameworks, tools, and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage in AI capabilities
• Oversee model training, validation, and deployment processes, ensuring performance, safety, and reliability standards are met

Who We're Looking For

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or equivalent advanced professional experience
• 8+ years developing and deploying machine learning and AI solutions in production environments
• Expert-level proficiency in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar) and model optimization techniques
• Strong background in computer vision, natural language processing, or embedded AI systems for automotive or robotics
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams or mentoring senior technical talent
• Proven ability to optimize and deploy ML models in resource-constrained, real-time environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across engineering, product, and executive levels
