CDQI Nurse Specialist

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Quality Improvement (CDQI) Nurse Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will elevate the quality and accuracy of medical record documentation through daily evaluations and direct provider collaboration. Your expertise will directly influence coding precision, reimbursement accuracy, and ultimately, the quality of patient care delivery.

This is a remote position based in the USA, requiring an active RN license and specialized CDI certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely, accurate, and complete documentation reviews for selected inpatient records, addressing inadequate or conflicting documentation
• Collaborate with physicians and caregivers to ensure appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity for DRG-based payer patients
• Improve coding specificity by educating physicians and caregivers on the importance of clear documentation throughout a patient's stay
• Query physicians regarding missing, unclear, or conflicting health record documentation to obtain necessary details
• Follow AHA guidelines and coding clinics for accurate coding and required documentation to ensure compliance
• Maintain daily production logs for evaluation, tracking cases reviewed, queries placed and responded to
• Perform follow-up reviews to confirm recorded points of clarification in the patient's medical record
• Ensure confidentiality of all files, documents, and records
• Meet or exceed established production and quality metrics
• Demonstrate understanding of complications, co-morbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix index, secondary diagnoses, and procedure impact on DRG

What We're Looking For

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• 3+ years of CDI (Clinical Documentation Improvement) experience
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center setting
• CCDS or CDIP certification required
• Must pass a CDI skills competency assessment
• Strong understanding of DRG coding, compliance requirements, and clinical documentation standards
• Excellent communication skills for effective physician and caregiver collaboration

Pay
