About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization in Berlin that is seeking a Senior Controller to join their lean, high-impact finance team. This is a role for someone who wants to own the full controlling cycle—from data extraction to executive recommendation—in a fast-paced, data-driven environment where automation and AI are embedded in daily workflows, not future projects.

You will work closely with senior management and business units across a multi-channel operation, driving financial planning, contribution margin analysis, and monthly reporting for a business generating significant revenue with a small, highly autonomous controlling team.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly management reporting for senior leadership, including variance analysis across business units, sales channels, and geographies; provide commentary that drives decision-making
• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, facilitate planning sessions with executive and department heads, and maintain the planning model
• Develop and refine contribution margin frameworks; provide cost bases to operational teams to support profitable buy and sell decisions
• Serve as a business partner to functional teams: conduct ad-hoc analyses, identify profitability levers, and translate insights into actionable recommendations
• Extract data independently using SQL from BigQuery, build reports in Looker, and automate recurring analytics to eliminate manual monthly processes
• Actively use AI tools for data preparation, analysis, code generation, and validation routines; contribute to evolving team workflows and methodology

What We're Looking For

• Several years of controlling experience in a data-driven company (e-commerce, retail, logistics, or similar)
• Analyst-level SQL proficiency—you write your own queries rather than waiting for BI support
• Strong command of Excel/Power Query and experience modeling complex planning scenarios
• Solid understanding of P&L structures, contribution margin accounting, and month-end close processes
• Demonstrated use of AI tools in your own work—you can describe specific processes you've shortened or eliminated
• Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly and concisely to non-finance stakeholders
• Fluency in German and English
