Maintainer (m/dw/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential education-technology organization seeking a Maintainer to ensure mature digital products remain fast, secure, and available as user numbers and feature scope grow. You will automate operations, make system health visible at all times, and resolve incidents in a structured, calm manner.

• Availability & Performance: Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and target metrics for uptime and response times
• Automate Operations: Implement deployments, updates, backups, and recovery through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
• Incident Resolution: Systematically isolate and fix issues, document root causes, and prevent recurrence
• Security: Continuously monitor patches, dependencies, access rights, and data protection requirements
• Cost & Capacity: Make cloud costs transparent and plan capacity for growth
• Platform Operations: Keep the learning platform stable and current in collaboration with external service providers
• AI Tooling: Accelerate log analysis, runbook creation, and recurring operational tasks using AI-assisted workflows
• Collaboration: Coordinate handoffs with development and operations colleagues and share operational knowledge across the team

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
• Experience operating web applications in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Proficiency with containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Docker, GitHub Actions, Terraform)
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, or uptime monitoring platforms)
• Linux knowledge plus fundamentals in networking and database operations including backups
• Scripting or development skills in Python, Bash, or TypeScript
• Experience with PHP and Moodle environments is a plus
• Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools for analysis, automation, and documentation
• Calm, systematic troubleshooting approach and a strong sense of responsibility for live systems
• Very good written and spoken German; good English skills

Experience level is open—junior through senior candidates are welcome. The key is your drive to deliver excellent results using modern AI-assisted tooling.
