Senior Data Engineer – Better Planner (d/f/m)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential logistics technology organization that is building next-generation planning solutions for last-mile operations. Our client is expanding their data engineering capabilities to support AI-powered planning models that optimize delivery operations from depot to doorstep.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll architect and maintain the data infrastructure that powers advanced planning algorithms. This role sits at the intersection of big data, machine learning, and operational logistics, delivering real-time insights that transform how delivery operations function.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines ensuring durable execution and reliability
• Deliver clean, timely data to machine learning models supporting planning and optimization
• Monitor pipeline performance and proactively identify data quality issues
• Collaborate with software developers and data analysts to expand data coverage and enable new features
• Partner with data engineers across teams to enhance shared platform capabilities
• Coordinate technical initiatives supporting organizational growth and scalability
• Provide technical mentorship on emerging technologies and engineering best practices

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL with proven Snowflake experience
• Hands-on experience with big data tools such as dbt, Fivetran, or equivalent platforms
• Strong knowledge of job orchestration tools, particularly Dagster
• Natural curiosity and adaptability with a track record solving complex technical challenges
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences
• Customer-centric mindset focused on end-user value
• Fluent English (written and spoken); German not required
• Current work authorization in Germany or Job Seeker Visa

Preferred Experience:

• AWS services including RDS, S3, Firehose, SQS, or event buses
• Geospatial data handling and visualization
• MLOps exposure, including model hosting, inference, and training workflows
