Business Segment Lead

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential health insurance organization expanding their French market operations. They are seeking a Business Segment Lead to drive market leadership within specific client categories. This is a strategic role requiring both analytical rigor and cross-functional leadership to shape value propositions, pricing strategies, and go-to-market execution.

The position is based in Paris, France, with potential flexibility for candidates in other major French or European cities including Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid, or Barcelona.

Responsibilities

• Build deep market intelligence by analyzing competitive landscape, market sizing, customer pain points, and unmet needs within your assigned business segment
• Define and articulate the value proposition and pricing strategy to differentiate offerings and achieve market leadership
• Design go-to-market strategies covering both renewal/account management and expansion through business development, distribution channels, and partnership management
• Own P&L performance for your segment and build business cases for resource allocation based on ROI analysis
• Collaborate with product teams to translate market insights into product roadmap decisions and trade-offs
• Work across sales, marketing, product, and insurance teams using influence rather than direct authority to drive results
• Partner with other segment leaders to share best practices and align on long-term value creation
• Focus on high-potential new segments where strategies and operations need to be built from the ground up

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of experience leading a business unit, product category, or market segment
• Full working proficiency in French (required)
• Advanced level English proficiency
• Exceptional ability to establish influence across functions without direct reporting lines
• Strong analytical capabilities with experience manipulating data to build comprehensive market views
• Business acumen combined with ability to engage deeply in product considerations
• Track record articulating clear strategies in complex or uncertain environments
• Experience working effectively with senior leadership
• Generalist self-starter mindset rather than single-industry specialist; comfortable adapting quickly and learning in the field
• Based in or willing to relocate to Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid, or Barcelona
