Asset Management Operations Director

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential renewable energy investment firm managing a global portfolio of utility-scale assets. As their platform continues to scale, they need an Asset Management Operations Director to build the operating infrastructure that ensures consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across a complex, multi-fund portfolio.

This is a senior role focused on making sure the fundamentals work seamlessly without constant escalation. You'll own cross-cutting operational frameworks where standards exist but aren't consistently applied, or where clear ownership is missing. Your work will help ensure that portfolio scale delivers tangible benefits: earlier issue identification, stronger supplier accountability, and systematic knowledge transfer across assets.

Location: London, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the core operating framework for Asset Management, establishing clear standards, ownership, governance structures and reporting across funds, assets and platforms
• Oversee governance arrangements, including board directorships and other Asset Management governance requirements
• Act as senior Asset Management representative for data and reporting systems, ensuring tools meet business needs and are effectively adopted across teams
• Drive consistent implementation of supplier and contractor performance frameworks, including management standards, reviews, competency assessments, and onboarding processes
• Own the Asset Management risk-management framework and consolidated risk reporting, improving visibility, escalation pathways and follow-through on material risks
• Lead lessons-learned and continuous-improvement processes, translating recurring issues into updated standards, guidance and working practices
• Provide oversight of key central processes requiring Asset Management input, including contract precedents, assumption books and operational standards
• Identify where market evolution, technology shifts or new operating models require adaptation, and develop practical proposals to support organisational change

What We're Looking For

• Senior Manager or Director level with 10-15 years' experience in renewable energy or comparable physical infrastructure sectors
• Background in asset management followed by portfolio operations, transformation, operational excellence or COO-type roles
• Proven track record building or improving portfolio-wide processes and operating frameworks—not solely managing individual assets
• Demonstrable delivery of systems such as contractor governance, operational risk reporting, supplier assurance, management information or cross-functional improvement programmes
• Strong understanding of renewable asset operations, including third-party asset management, key suppliers, contractual frameworks, operational risks and governance requirements
• Commercial judgement and pragmatism: ability to distinguish value-protecting controls from unnecessary bureaucracy
• Experience working across technical, finance, legal, data, fund-management and investment teams, with credibility to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• Strong programme-delivery skills, translating broad priorities into clear ownership, milestones, decisions and evidence of adoption
• Comfortable working hands-on and resolving detail when needed, while maintaining focus on highest-impact issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain operational issues and recommendations clearly to senior management, boards and investors
