Senior Engineering Manager – Multichannel Commerce

About This Opportunity

We are representing a global SaaS platform leader in the commerce technology space. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead multichannel commerce engineering teams based in Paris, France.

In this role, you'll manage approximately 12 engineers across two squads focused on seller experience and marketplace channel integrations. You'll partner with product and design leaders to deliver scalable solutions while developing your people and raising the engineering bar across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop two engineering squads responsible for seller journey features and integrations with major external marketplaces, ensuring reliable delivery and high engineering standards
• Partner closely with Product and Design to define priorities, translate business needs into execution plans, and make trade-offs balancing delivery speed, quality, and technical sustainability
• Drive technical direction within your scope—challenge architectural choices, ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable, and raise best practices in testing, observability, and incident management
• Develop your people: coach engineers and tech leads, identify growth opportunities, run performance and career conversations, and contribute to attracting strong talent
• Build a strong operating model for your teams—improve ways of working pragmatically, protect team focus, foster ownership, and enable effective collaboration with distributed international stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• At least 4-5 years managing engineering teams, with a track record leading teams of 5-6+ engineers, ideally across multiple squads
• Proven experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, channel management, feed management, catalog or order management, or closely related domains
• Solid Java background—you may no longer be hands-on, but have the depth to challenge architectural decisions, assess technical trade-offs, and manage Java engineering teams with credibility
• Demonstrated ability to deliver in demanding, fast-moving environments while protecting team focus and adapting management approach to context
• Experience collaborating with international and cross-functional stakeholders across time zones

Essential Skills:

• Engineering leadership: ability to set direction, delegate effectively, and develop people at all levels
• Execution in complexity: capable of managing delivery, priorities, and trade-offs across multiple teams simultaneously
• Technical judgment: able to engage in Java architecture discussions, challenge integration design choices, and guide engineers on complex distributed systems
• Fluent English and French—approximately 50% of working time will be in English
