About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential AI data services organization on a specialized freelance project. We're seeking a Session Director for Swiss German (CH) to lead live voice recording sessions that produce natural, conversational audio for AI voice synthesis applications.
In this role, you'll direct voice contributors through scripted scenarios, coaching them to deliver authentic, everyday-sounding dialogue rather than scripted performances. This is a hands-on position combining creative direction, performance coaching, and real-time technical audio judgment.
Responsibilities
- Direct voice performers through scripted scenarios, coaching for natural conversational delivery rather than verbatim recitation
- Build quick scene context for performers and improvise to fill narrative gaps live, maintaining natural session flow
- Adapt scripted wording for natural phrasing and Swiss German dialect authenticity as needed
- Monitor and correct technical audio quality in real time, including mic technique, pacing, clarity, and background noise
- Manage session pacing to meet recording targets while maintaining performance quality
- Maintain organized notes on adjustments and retakes
- Create a supportive, low-pressure environment for performers of varying experience levels
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Native fluency in Swiss German (CH dialect) with a strong ear for natural, colloquial phrasing
- Experience directing, coaching, or producing voice or audio talent (voice direction, casting, audio/podcast production, dubbing/ADR, or theater direction)
- Demonstrated ability to give clear, specific, actionable performance direction
- Strong working knowledge of basic recording and mic technique (proximity, plosives, room noise, levels)
- Comfortable improvising and adjusting scripted material on the spot
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly with performers of varying experience
Preferred:
- Background in improv, theater direction, or acting coaching
- Experience directing non-professional or first-time voice talent
- Familiarity with DAWs or recording software (Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Reaper) for spot-checking audio quality
Time Commitment: Approximately 8 hours calibration plus supervision across two recording sessions of roughly 4 hours each per participant. This is a freelance, remote engagement.
