Designer, Combat

Warnerbros is hiring a Designer, Combat for our full-time studio position located in Chicago, IL at 2650A W Bradley Place. We're seeking an experienced designer to create engaging combat systems and experiences for our entertainment and gaming projects.

About the Role

As a Designer, Combat, you'll lead the creative vision for combat mechanics and player interactions within our productions. Working full-time at our Chicago studio, you'll collaborate with artists, animators, engineers, and storytellers to deliver compelling combat experiences that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Core Duties

• Design and prototype combat mechanics, systems, and gameplay interactions
• Balance combat difficulty, pacing, and player progression for engaging experiences
• Collaborate across creative and technical disciplines to integrate combat design into projects
• Create and maintain design documentation and combat specifications
• Test, evaluate, and iterate on combat gameplay based on feedback and performance data
• Establish and maintain visual and mechanical consistency in combat across productions

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience designing combat systems for games or interactive entertainment
• Deep understanding of game mechanics, balance, and player psychology
• Portfolio examples of combat design work or strategic design thinking
• Skilled in design documentation, prototyping, and design communication tools
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities across multidisciplinary teams
• Genuine passion for creating memorable, high-quality combat experiences
