Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential French entertainment technology organization, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - DPO & AI Compliance. Reporting to the Group Legal Director, you will lead the deployment and management of the group's compliance framework, providing operational support across all business units on critical data protection and artificial intelligence matters.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Defining and implementing the data and AI compliance roadmap across the organization
• Drafting, deploying, and maintaining all legal documents related to data and AI (privacy policies, cookie policies, internal AI charters, terms of use, crisis management procedures)
• Providing regular compliance reporting to group leadership
• Serving as primary contact with regulatory authorities (CNIL, DGCCRF, ARCOM, ANSSI)
• Managing day-to-day GDPR compliance: maintaining treatment registers, conducting impact assessments (DPIAs), performing internal audits, identifying risks, and monitoring remediation plans
• Collaborating with technical teams and IT security on data protection and security incident management, including authority notifications within required timeframes
• Processing data subject rights requests within legal deadlines
• Supporting teams in AI deployment projects by evaluating associated risks and implementing AI Act compliance processes
• Advising marketing teams on AdTech topics (cookies, pixels, SDKs, advertising targeting)
• Negotiating data and AI contractual clauses with vendors and partners
• Designing and delivering training and awareness programs for various departments

What We're Looking For

We require a candidate with a Master 2 degree in digital law, technology law, data protection, or DPO specialization, with a minimum of 7 years of confirmed experience in data protection. Previous experience as a DPO or Deputy DPO is strongly preferred.

Essential qualifications and skills:

• Recognized certification such as IAPP (CIPP/E, CIPM) is a significant asset
• Excellent operational command of GDPR and data protection regulations
• Practical knowledge of international regulations (CCPA/CPRA, UK GDPR, PIPEDA)
• Understanding of minor data processing issues and age verification mechanisms
• Strong knowledge of AI regulation (AI Act/RIA) and AI governance systems
• Professional fluency in French and English, both written and oral, including autonomous contract drafting and negotiation
• Excellent writing skills
• Risk-based, pragmatic, and business-oriented approach
• Recognized rigor, analytical and synthesis capabilities, and strong autonomy
• Ability to explain and simplify complex legal concepts to varied audiences
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

This position is based in Paris 19e (Metro line 7 – Corentin Cariou / RER E – Rosa Parks) with two days of remote work per week. The role includes profit-sharing agreements and is available for immediate start.
