[Japan] Senior Manager, Cloud and Connectivity Platform, Global IT Infrastructur

About This Opportunity

We are representing a global pharmaceutical organization with operations across EMEA, APAC, and North America. Our client is seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud and Connectivity Platform to lead their Azure infrastructure and global network architecture based in Japan.

This is a strategic platform ownership role requiring hands-on leadership of cloud infrastructure, networking, and continuous improvement initiatives across approximately 90 offices and multiple SD-WAN sites worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the Azure platform including landing zone design, policy enforcement, subscription strategy, tagging, and identity/access controls following Microsoft best practices
• Ensure all Azure environments and resources are secure, compliant, and aligned to regulatory requirements
• Own global network architecture spanning ~90 offices and 12 SD-WAN sites, ensuring resilience, proper sizing, and currency
• Govern Azure vWAN intercontinental backbone including hub topology, routing design, and ExpressRoute/VPN connectivity across regions
• Collaborate with architecture teams to define infrastructure standards for reliability, availability, and disaster recovery
• Own Azure cloud cost governance and establish FinOps practices to optimize workloads and resources
• Define and enforce network security standards including segmentation, zero-trust access, and firewall governance
• Establish observability standards and SLAs covering availability, latency, and redundancy
• Lead innovation, capacity planning, and lifecycle management ensuring components are patched and fit for purpose
• Contribute to IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap development, particularly for cloud and connectivity domains
• Steer projects from initiation through closure, developing business cases and project plans aligned with business expectations
• Manage supplier relationships defining clear guidelines, objectives, KPIs and SLAs
• Hire, develop, and retain team members while executing domain budget objectives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Systems Infrastructure, cloud networking, and design
• Several years as a global team leader with extensive remote management experience
• Proven track record delivering business-oriented value generation and ROI-based global projects
• Successful platform ownership experience with continuous improvements of cloud environments using ITIL practices
• Experience working with regional teams across different countries and global stakeholders in both operational and project activities
• Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Azure networking, network management, SD-WAN, and Cisco products portfolio
• Broad knowledge of cloud platforms, networks, Windows systems, AVD architecture, Azure IaaS/PaaS, and disaster recovery solutions
• Hands-on approach to understanding platform details, standards, and influencing subject matter experts
• Strong vendor and partner management skills
• Cisco and Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-500 or equivalent) are advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English required
• Strong documentation and presentation skills suitable for management audiences
• Fundamental knowledge of security impacts in workplace environments
• Practical project management skills for infrastructure projects with global rollout activities
