About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential consulting organization seeking an expert to join their IT Value Creation team. This is a permanent position based in München, with project work typically conducted at client sites during the week and office-based collaboration on Fridays.
Our client specializes in helping organizations optimize their software procurement strategies, commercial structures, and IT spend management to deliver measurable P&L impact.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing software spend, license inventories, and contract structures to identify concrete savings opportunities
- Prepare and execute complex procurements and contract renewals with enterprise software and SaaS vendors including SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, and ServiceNow
- Challenge requirements, user groups, license types, modules, add-ons, roll-out plans, and growth assumptions in collaboration with IT and business stakeholders
- Develop target volumes, licensing models, contract structures, and negotiation strategies for renewals and new procurements
- Assess license metrics, entitlements, usage rights, edition structures, and contractual mechanisms such as minimum commitments, price escalations, true-ups, audit rights, and termination clauses
- Translate business and technical requirements into commercially sound sourcing decisions alongside procurement teams
- Facilitate workshops, lead stakeholder discussions, and structure decision-making processes across IT, business units, procurement, and management
- Support implementation of optimization measures including license downsizing, reharvesting, cleanup of unused licenses, edition adjustments, and commitment avoidance
- Contribute to internal knowledge development and share expertise across the team
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in business informatics, business administration, computer science, industrial engineering, or comparable field
- Minimum five years of professional experience in software procurement, IT vendor management, software asset management, license consulting, IT sourcing, IT commercial management, or comparable environment
- Hands-on experience with enterprise software and SaaS contracts, particularly renewals, new procurements, contract optimization, or license cleanup initiatives
- Strong understanding of license metrics, subscriptions, entitlements, usage rights, edition and pricing models, and standard contractual provisions
- Concrete project experience with at least two major vendor ecosystems such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, or ServiceNow
- Ability to critically evaluate requirements and specifications while maintaining focus on underlying business objectives
- Experience preparing and conducting commercial negotiations and developing robust negotiation strategies
- Proven track record leading workshops, structuring complex issues, and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups
- Consulting experience welcome; candidates from in-house roles should demonstrate experience in cross-functional projects and complex decision-making environments
- Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken
- Analytical, structured, and independent working style combined with strong interpersonal and situational awareness
- Willingness to take ownership, drive initiatives forward, and implement solutions effectively at client organizations
