Director AI & Automation

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential MarTech consulting organization in their search for a Director of AI & Automation based in Munich, Germany. This is a senior leadership role with a genuine seat in management, offering full ownership of technology strategy, AI transformation, and client delivery architecture. You'll work directly with the founding leadership team to embed AI across all service lines and productize new offerings for enterprise clients.

This is a remote-first position with quarterly in-person team events across Europe. The successful candidate will shape how a growing consultancy transforms its delivery model through AI while building their personal brand as a thought leader in the MarTech and AI space.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technology and architectural decisions across internal systems and client-facing platforms
• Design and execute the organization's AI-first strategy, from internal tooling to enterprise service offerings
• Build productized AI service offerings with clear methodology, pricing models, and delivery frameworks
• Lead client engagements on marketing automation platform architecture, including CRM and MarTech stack integrations
• Drive AI adoption initiatives with enterprise clients in the Adobe and Marketo ecosystem
• Embed AI into delivery practices through playbooks, governance frameworks, and standardized tooling
• Enable and upskill consulting and delivery teams on AI methodology and operational deployment
• Represent the organization externally at industry events such as Adobe Summit and user group conferences
• Produce technical content establishing thought leadership in AI for MarTech

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience owning technology strategy and architecture at a senior or principal level, ideally in consulting, agency, or MarTech environments
• Degree in Business Informatics, Mathematics, Engineering, Digitalization, or comparable qualification
• Track record leading digital transformation initiatives and process automation with strong project management capabilities
• Deep hands-on familiarity with AI and LLM tooling, with demonstrated ability to operationalize these technologies in real delivery settings
• Technical understanding and programming skills (Python, API integration) preferred
• Expertise in data structures and data management practices
• Experience with the Adobe B2B marketing stack, particularly Marketo and Adobe Journey Optimizer
• Analytical thinker with structured, solution-oriented approach
• Strong communicator credible in front of clients, teams, and at industry events; able to bridge business and technical audiences
• Self-driven with genuine enthusiasm for pushing organizational change forward
• Fluent English required; German is a strong plus but not mandatory
• Based in Europe
