Refurb Technician – Bikes

About This Role

We are representing a confidential client in the sustainable mobility sector, seeking an experienced Refurb Technician to join their busy workshop in Rainham. Our client operates at scale, managing tens of thousands of bicycles through a circular business model. This is a hands-on role for a skilled bike mechanic who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily performance targets: 15 rebike services and repairs per day, or 20 new bike pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) per day
• Perform advanced servicing, diagnostics, and repairs including brake system maintenance (hydraulic disc brakes), drivetrain servicing (bottom bracket replacement), wheel maintenance and truing, steering maintenance (headset replacements), suspension and rigid fork replacement, and gear system maintenance (front derailleur replacements)
• Ensure all bikes meet safety, cleanliness, and performance standards using M-check protocols before quality control inspection
• Report quality control issues to the QC team member
• Promote teamwork and maintain an inclusive, positive workshop culture
• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements throughout the workshop
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-organized workspace
• Proactively suggest new ideas to improve efficiency and workshop operations
• Monitor daily parts usage and report low stock levels to the Parts Inventory Supervisor

What We're Looking For

• Cytech Level 2 certification or equivalent hands-on experience
• Proven experience servicing hybrid, mountain, gravel, and BMX bikes
• Experience working with both rigid and suspension forks
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently and meet targets in a fast-paced workshop environment
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Comfort with completing a practical bike assembly assessment during the interview process
