Responsibilities
We are representing a specialized geotechnical engineering consultancy in the Munich area that works on demanding projects in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and hydrogeology. Our client is seeking an experienced professional to independently prepare geotechnical reports, manage technical project aspects, and serve as a key interface to department leadership.
In this role, you will:
- Independently prepare geotechnical reports, soil investigation studies, and expert technical opinions
- Assess soil and foundation conditions for building construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects
- Design ground investigation programs including drilling campaigns, sounding tests, and groundwater assessments
- Coordinate fieldwork activities, drilling contractors, laboratory services, and external project participants
- Conduct technical coordination with clients, specialist planners, verification engineers, and authorities
- Evaluate geotechnical risks and derive economical, implementable foundation recommendations
- Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, service specifications, and contract variations
- Provide technical support to department leadership as a sparring partner in day-to-day operations
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate brings:
- Multiple years of practical experience in geotechnics, soil mechanics, engineering geology, or hydrogeology with proven independent report preparation
- Relevant background such as civil engineer specializing in geotechnics, engineering geologist, geoscientist, or experienced construction technician with substantial foundation engineering experience
- Strong command of geotechnical questions around foundations, soil parameters, earthworks, and ground construction
- Experience in project coordination and ideally in cost and contract variation management
- Advantageous: familiarity with geotechnical software, groundwater modeling, thermal groundwater use, or construction dewatering
- Excellent German language skills (written and spoken) for reports, documentation, and stakeholder communication
This position offers flexible working hours with partial home office options for focused report preparation, regional projects in the Munich area with field visits that don't require overnight stays, high autonomy with direct influence on projects and technical recommendations, and comprehensive project involvement from investigation through assessment to expert opinion. You'll work in a specialized engineering environment with short decision-making paths and development opportunities in technical leadership or advanced project management roles. Benefits include 28 vacation days and performance-based compensation.
