We are representing a confidential defense technology organization based in Toulouse that is experiencing rapid growth and international expansion. Our talent team is seeking a Pyrotechnics Engineer to lead payload integration, testing, and regulatory compliance for advanced airborne defense systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining technical integration, qualification testing, certification, and field operations in a fast-paced defense environment. You will work at the intersection of mechanical, avionics, and systems engineering to ensure safe and reliable integration of military payloads onto aerial platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead integration of pyrotechnic and military payloads onto airborne platforms, defining mechanical, electrical, and functional interfaces
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams including Mechanical, Avionics, Systems, and Test groups to ensure successful payload integration
• Plan and execute ground tests, integration tests, and qualification campaigns with defined acceptance criteria
• Analyze test results, investigate anomalies, and drive corrective actions through qualification phases
• Support flight test preparation, execution, and post-flight analysis activities
• Prepare and maintain technical, safety, and qualification documentation for pyrotechnic systems
• Manage regulatory authorizations required for testing and operation of defense systems
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety reviews ensuring compliance with aerospace and defense regulations
• Contribute to operational demonstrations, deployments, and field-testing activities
• Capture lessons learned and feed improvements into future product development cycles

What We're Looking For

• 3–8 years of experience in pyrotechnics, aerospace, defense, or related fields
• Direct experience integrating military or pyrotechnic payloads onto drones, UAVs, missiles, aircraft, or other airborne platforms
• Proven track record leading integration, testing, and qualification activities in defense or aerospace environments
• Experience managing technical documentation and regulatory approvals for pyrotechnic or military systems
• Background in safety-critical aerospace or defense environments
• Strong understanding of pyrotechnic systems and airborne payload integration principles
• Hands-on engineer comfortable working directly with hardware and testing activities
• Able to independently drive integration and qualification campaigns from concept through deployment
• Rigorous approach to safety, documentation, and regulatory compliance
• Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills across engineering disciplines
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to operate autonomously in a fast-growing company
• High integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive defense technology
