AI Engineer – Dealflow (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential private equity firm focused on the DACH software and technology mid-market. Our client is building sophisticated AI-driven infrastructure to identify and engage with potential investment targets before traditional M&A processes begin. As their AI Engineer for Deal Origination, you will own the product that powers their proprietary dealflow engine, combining technical excellence with commercial impact.

This role offers genuine ownership from day one. You'll work directly with leadership and investment teams to build scalable systems that identify attractive companies and their shareholders early in the investment cycle. You'll bridge AI capabilities with business development, creating the data, tooling, and reporting infrastructure that drives outbound campaigns and investment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the AI product that continuously populates the origination funnel with qualified software and technology companies in the DACH mid-market, iteratively improving performance
• Develop screening and prioritization logic for target companies, systematically improving accuracy and relevance
• Build automated data acquisition and enrichment pipelines to enhance target profiles with firmographics and ownership structures
• Create logic and workflows to detect intent signals and potential selling interest
• Implement automated multichannel outreach and refine underlying processes
• Build dashboards and reports covering funnel metrics, activities, and conversion rates to support sourcing and pipeline reviews
• Evaluate new prospecting and sourcing tools, developing outreach sequences and messaging libraries

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated track record of building AI tools and automation that were deployed in production environments, not just prototypes or demos
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience building AI-based products or tools
• Strong Python development skills with production deployment experience using Docker on Azure
• Practical experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude) and understanding of where they excel and where limitations exist
• Experience working with CRM data, with solid understanding of data quality and structure requirements; familiarity with Pipedrive, agent systems, and frameworks like LangGraph is a plus
• Commercial mindset: you understand what makes a target relevant and measure yourself by results
• Degree in Business Informatics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or comparable STEM field
• Fluent German and English language skills
