About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential technology organization building next-generation productivity applications. We're seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead technology strategy and architecture across a multi-product engineering organization in the United Kingdom.
This is a technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who can set architecture standards, drive engineering excellence, and remain hands-on with systems and code.
Responsibilities
- Own architecture and major technical decisions across multiple products and platforms
- Review critical systems, architecture, infrastructure, and code directly
- Set engineering standards for reliability, security, performance, testing, and code quality
- Identify technical debt and architecture constraints; drive resolution
- Improve engineering productivity, development velocity, and production reliability
- Make strategic decisions on shared technology and infrastructure across business units
- Recruit and assess senior engineers, technical leads, and engineering leadership
What We're Looking For
- Deep software engineering background with proven experience building and scaling production systems
- Strong technical expertise in backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems
- Track record making architecture decisions across multiple products or engineering teams
- Strong technical judgment with ability to challenge engineering decisions at the implementation level
- Demonstrated success building world-class engineering teams
- Hands-on technical capability—able to review code, architecture, incidents, and complex engineering problems directly
