About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AI platform company in their search for a Learning & Development Specialist based in London. Our client works with a specialized distributed workforce that produces high-quality data annotation for frontier AI applications across medical imaging, robotics, document AI, and LLM evaluation.
This is a critical operational role where your expertise in learning science will directly impact the quality our client delivers to their customers. You will design and deliver training that transforms technical specifications into instruction a non-specialist workforce can execute correctly—often within days of project launch.
Responsibilities
- Convert client specifications and annotation guidelines into teachable material within days—modular, sequenced, and built on worked examples and edge-case libraries
- Design training against explicit learning-science principles: manage cognitive load, chunk dense specifications into progressive modules, scaffold then fade support, and use spaced retrieval to ensure retention
- Deliver live remote training sessions to distributed cohorts daily during project ramps, adjusting in real-time when concepts are not landing
- Build criterion-referenced assessments that determine readiness rather than test recall, with clear pass thresholds that ensure quality standards
- Design for novice audiences by default: no assumed prior knowledge, plain language, material that works for second-language readers
- Develop durable curricula for repeat domains with progression pathways into higher-skill work
- Coach program managers into better instructors through observation, feedback technique, and session design
- Observe annotators at work to identify where they struggle, then redesign training accordingly
- Measure every program against before-and-after quality and throughput metrics, retiring what doesn't move operational numbers
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Formal grounding in education, learning science, or instructional design—degree, postgraduate qualification, teaching qualification, or equivalent professional training (this is a requirement, not a preference)
- 3–6 years designing and delivering training in operational environments where training was measured against production outcomes
- Demonstrable live facilitation to adult learners, remotely and at cohort scale
- Experience building curriculum and assessment from scratch, including assessments that genuinely discriminate between competent and not-yet-competent performers
- Experience teaching non-specialist adults, ideally across languages, geographies, and education levels
- Multi-format authoring capability: written documentation, video, interactive assessments
- Data fluency sufficient to evaluate your own programs against quality and throughput reports
- Grounded in learning theory and able to articulate which principles you're applying: cognitive load, worked-example effect, scaffolding and fading, spaced and retrieval practice, criterion-referenced assessment
- Execution-oriented mindset—projects launching next week need material this week
- Strong cross-functional communication and clear writing
Bonus:
- Classroom or vocational teaching background
- Language-teaching qualification such as CELTA or equivalent
- Experience working with distributed teams in India or comparable geographies
- Familiarity with annotation, evaluation, or model-training workflows
