Position Summary

As a Graduate Nurse Stepdown at SSM Health's Fenton location, you'll provide direct patient care on a stepdown unit—a transitional care setting for patients progressing beyond intensive care. Working 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with rotating night schedules and every third weekend and holiday coverage, you'll collaborate with seasoned nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care while building essential clinical competencies under preceptor guidance.

What You'll Do

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs, reporting clinical changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely under supervision in compliance with state nursing regulations
• Implement nursing interventions focused on patient comfort, safety, and recovery
• Document care accurately and participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning
• Educate patients and families about discharge instructions, medication management, and health maintenance
• Contribute to a culture of quality improvement and patient safety throughout your shift

What We're Looking For

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current eligibility to practice as a nurse as determined by your State Board of Nursing
• Less than one year of professional nursing experience
• Strong communication and critical thinking abilities
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and seek guidance in a dynamic healthcare setting
• Dedication to patient-centered care and professional nursing standards
