Technology Lead / Engineering Lead

Digital Forms is seeking a Technology Lead / Engineering Lead for a remote contract position supporting a transformative AI-integrated SaaS platform serving the healthcare-adjacent sector. In this newly created role, you'll lead technical strategy and day-to-day operations for a growing Polish engineering organization transitioning from services to product-focused delivery.

About This Position

You're joining a pivotal moment: a US-based software company is scaling its technical capabilities and needs a dedicated leader to embed with its Poland-based engineering team. The platform you'll oversee combines a modern AWS serverless infrastructure with production-grade AI and machine learning features—including LLM-powered document classification and retrieval-augmented generation for clinical decision support. This is a newly created, mission-critical role as the first on-the-ground technical lead reporting to a fractional CIO, bridging day-to-day team operations and executive-level strategy. The position is structured as a contract role suitable for senior technologists seeking focused, high-impact work.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to approximately 15 engineers organized across backend, frontend, AI/ML, data, QA, DevOps, and design disciplines
• Own day-to-day technical decision-making, sprint planning, and team coordination across the engineering organization
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between the engineering team and senior client stakeholders, translating business needs into technical roadmaps
• Champion the platform's transition from a services-oriented to product-centric business model, advising on technical priorities that unlock scalability
• Evaluate and drive adoption of emerging AI/LLM capabilities within the regulated healthcare-adjacent industry context

Who We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading engineering teams of 10+ in size, with demonstrated success in building high-performing technical organizations
• Deep familiarity with AWS serverless architectures, modern DevOps practices, and cloud-native platform design
• Strong background working with AI/machine learning systems, particularly LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, and production AI deployment
• Comfort navigating regulated industries or compliance-heavy environments (healthcare, fintech, legal, etc.)
• Ability to bridge technical and business stakeholder communication, distilling complex technical decisions for non-technical audiences
• Remote-first mindset with experience leading distributed or geographically dispersed teams
