Middle School Special Education Associate/Paraeducator

About the Role

As a Special Education Associate/Paraeducator, you'll serve as a crucial member of the special education team, working directly with students who require individualized academic and behavioral support. This position offers the chance to foster meaningful connections with young learners while helping them build confidence and skills in a structured school environment.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct instructional support and one-on-one or small-group assistance to students under the supervision of special education teachers and licensed educators
• Help students with classroom assignments, organizational skills, and academic concepts aligned to their individual education plans
• Support students in developing social skills, following behavioral expectations, and building positive peer relationships
• Assist with classroom management, transitions between activities, and maintaining an inclusive learning environment
• Implement accommodation strategies and adaptive materials as outlined in students' IEPs or 504 plans
• Track student progress and communicate observations to teachers and families
• Support special education teachers with materials preparation, record keeping, and program delivery

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED; some districts prefer or require paraprofessional certification or coursework
• Strong patience, empathy, and genuine interest in supporting students with disabilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
• Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to students' changing needs and classroom dynamics
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
