Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential rail transportation organization seeking a Team Lead Training Academy to oversee the professional and operational leadership of their driver training team. Reporting to the Head of Academy, you will ensure that train driver training is delivered to the highest quality standards while maintaining full regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Leadership and Personnel Management:
- Lead and coordinate a team of 6 instructors across theory, practical training, language instruction, and regulatory compliance
- Conduct employee performance reviews, assessments, and manage onboarding processes
- Maintain instructor licenses and qualifications, identify professional development needs, and ensure continuous team improvement
Quality Oversight and Observation:
- Conduct regular observations of theoretical and practical training sessions
- Analyze training delivery and implement improvement measures
- Provide technical support to instructors and serve as escalation point for quality issues
Training Organization and Compliance:
- Assume overall responsibility for training organization, ensuring regulatory conformity and current documentation
- Maintain all training materials including schedules, curricula, and compliance records
- Coordinate regularly with examination organization leadership to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems including DIN ISO 29993 and 21001 standards
- Support internal and external audits by regulatory authorities and certification bodies
Vendor Management:
- Select, manage, and quality-control external training providers
- Conduct market inquiries and manage procurement processes
- Ensure external partners meet all regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Completed train driver qualification with instructor certification according to German railway regulations
- Strong knowledge of relevant transportation and safety regulations
- Experience in team leadership or coordination within a training environment
- Proven ability to work independently with strong organizational skills
- Experience selecting and managing external service providers with understanding of contractual and quality requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of DIN ISO 29993, 21001, and ISO 9001:2015 quality standards
- Experience in regulated training environments
Personal Attributes:
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative, respectful leadership style
- Reliable and detail-oriented approach to compliance and documentation
- Willingness to travel as needed for training site visits and vendor management
- Fluency in German is required for this role
