About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization that serves health plans and provider groups across the United States. Our client has built a sophisticated platform that combines artificial intelligence, data analytics, and clinical intelligence to support value-based care programs, including Medicare Advantage risk adjustment and quality measurement initiatives.

We are seeking an SVP, AI & Data to lead the technical strategy and execution of the AI, machine learning, and data systems that power medical chart review, code extraction, and analytics across their platform. This is a working executive role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical direction.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Direct AI and machine learning systems that extract ICD codes and quality measures from medical charts, including retrospective and prospective risk extraction workflows using OCR, natural language processing, and large language models
• Own the internal API architecture that delivers extraction results to downstream engineering teams, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and clear contracts
• Guide data science research as the team advances from model-based extraction toward retrieval-augmented generation systems, and shepherd research findings into production
• Set the architecture for the data warehouse on Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric, including data ingestion, transformation, and governance
• Oversee business intelligence delivery in Looker, ensuring reporting is timely, accurate, and aligned with stakeholder needs
• Lead risk analytics expertise that determines Medicare Advantage value from coded medical documentation
• Provide technical direction on build-versus-buy decisions, model selection, and innovation across AI, data, and analytics functions
• Lead seven team leaders managing approximately 27 engineers, data scientists, and analysts, fostering autonomy while maintaining alignment on delivery and architecture
• Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, and clinical leadership to align the technical roadmap with commercial and regulatory priorities
• Establish governance practices appropriate to protected health information and CMS-regulated programs

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record leading AI and data organizations with sufficient technical depth to evaluate architecture, model selection, and build-versus-buy decisions
• Deep experience with applied machine learning and large language models in production, including retrieval-augmented generation, OCR, document understanding, and clinical natural language processing
• Experience leading data warehouse and business intelligence functions, with working knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable technologies
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker or similar platforms
• Demonstrated leadership of multiple technical teams and their leaders, with a leadership style that sets direction while granting execution autonomy
• Working fluency in healthcare risk adjustment, medical coding (ICD), and quality measurement (HEDIS), or the ability to develop this fluency quickly

Preferred qualifications:

• Direct experience with Medicare Advantage risk adjustment, IVA, or RADV audit workflows
• Familiarity with cloud AI services including Google Gemini, AWS Textract, and AWS Comprehend Medical
• Advanced degree in computer science, data science, biostatistics, or a clinical field, or equivalent applied experience

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $305,000 – $355,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
