Staff Frontend Engineer (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client in Berlin that is building sophisticated fund operations technology. They need a Staff Frontend Engineer to lead architectural initiatives, drive their React migration, and establish frontend excellence across product teams.

This is a high-impact role for someone who has operated at staff scope before—leading systemic improvements, setting technical direction, and raising the quality bar across multiple teams. You'll shape how frontend engineering evolves at this organization while shipping meaningful product experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical migration from Svelte to React, maintaining architectural clarity across both stacks while keeping product delivery on track
• Evolve and maintain the design system to enable consistent, accessible UI delivery across product teams
• Drive frontend initiatives including application architecture, performance optimization, testing strategy, and developer experience improvements
• Raise UX and UI quality standards through design reviews, reusable patterns, mentoring, and technical documentation
• Shape how AI coding tools are adopted effectively, ensuring the codebase works well for both human engineers and agentic workflows
• Establish measurable improvements across cross-team frontend initiatives from diagnosis through delivery
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate complex workflows into pragmatic, elegant user experiences

What We're Looking For

Experience and Technical Skills:

• Proven track record operating at Staff scope, leading systemic frontend improvements across multiple teams
• Deep expertise in modern frontend engineering: TypeScript, React, component architecture, state management, design systems
• Strong command of accessibility, performance optimization, testing strategies, and maintainable application architecture
• Daily use of AI coding tools with practical experience implementing agentic workflows where they genuinely add value
• Systems thinking across frontend, backend, APIs, infrastructure, and observability when problems require it
• Experience with the technical stack: TypeScript, React (Svelte knowledge helpful for migration context), Node.js, MySQL, Kubernetes, AWS
