Team Lead Engineering – Fraud Prevention (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential online gaming organization headquartered in Hamburg. They operate a mature B2B platform serving multiple consumer brands across European markets, and they're expanding their fraud prevention and compliance engineering capability.

As Team Lead Engineering for Fraud Prevention, you will own the technical strategy and delivery for fraud detection, anti-money laundering, responsible gaming controls, and automated blocking systems across the customer lifecycle. You'll lead a focused engineering team building scalable platform capabilities that serve internal business customers while keeping operations compliant and secure.

Responsibilities

• Lead a product-focused engineering team of 2+ engineers building core B2B platform capabilities for fraud prevention and player protection
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent; foster an ownership-driven, reliability-focused team culture
• Evaluate, introduce, and evolve fraud detection and prevention platforms that meet regulatory and risk requirements
• Define and drive architectural decisions in collaboration with senior technical stakeholders
• Write code regularly as part of the team, contributing to features and solving complex technical challenges
• Champion effective use of AI in engineering workflows (AI-assisted development, tooling) and explore AI applications within platform capabilities
• Partner closely with Product Management and internal business units to shape product and technical strategy
• Deliver secure, robust, maintainable solutions focused on customer experience and business outcomes
• Drive cross-team collaboration to align APIs, technical interfaces, and architectural consistency
• Own and operate the domain's microservices in production

What We're Looking For

• Proven people leadership skills with an empowering, non-micromanaging style
• Strong, current hands-on experience with Kotlin/Spring Boot and Mongo/PostgreSQL
• "You build it, you run it" mindset with practical experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining microservices on Kubernetes
• Deep understanding of REST API design and event-driven processing pipelines built on Kafka
• Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions and align diverse stakeholders
• Strong engineering fundamentals: security-by-design, resilience patterns, and operating production systems at scale
• Experience with agentic AI development practices and operating models
