(Senior) Quality Assurance Engineer (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the online gaming sector, seeking a quality-focused engineer to join their growing platform team in Hamburg. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll build the automated testing infrastructure and quality tooling that enables a small cross-functional team to ship complex features with confidence.

You'll work directly in the application codebase, building test frameworks, fixtures, and automation that support business-critical workflows with financial and compliance implications. This role offers genuine ownership from day one and the opportunity to shape quality engineering practices for a platform used across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automated test infrastructure across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end levels using Playwright and TypeScript
• Develop reusable test fixtures, data seeding tools, environment harnesses, and abstractions that enable realistic, repeatable testing
• Create fast automated feedback loops and validation mechanisms that support safe, AI-assisted development
• Build regression coverage for critical workflows involving complex permissions and scenarios with financial or compliance impact
• Strengthen CI quality gates to ensure green pipelines provide fast, reliable signals that changes are safe to ship
• Investigate defects, flaky tests, and systemic quality issues, turning findings into durable engineering improvements
• Triage bug reports with internal users, reproduce issues, and translate findings into actionable items for the team
• Champion quality mindset across the team, challenging workflows and designs from an end-user perspective to catch usability issues and edge cases early
• Collaborate with engineers, Product, UX, and backend teams to identify risks early and build quality into the development process

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering skills with experience in quality engineering, test automation, SDET, or comparable engineering-focused roles
• Hands-on expertise with TypeScript or JavaScript, with the ability to contribute production-quality code to modern web applications
• Proven experience designing and building test frameworks, tooling, harnesses, fixtures, and automation infrastructure—not just writing individual test cases
• Strong experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar modern end-to-end testing frameworks
• Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and applications integrating with multiple backend services
• Ability to work onsite or hybrid in Hamburg
