Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential sports technology organization seeking a talented Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Cologne, Germany. Our client works with thousands of professional sports teams worldwide, delivering critical performance analytics and data-driven insights that help athletes and teams gain competitive advantages.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across the full technology stack, contributing to multiple applications that power a sophisticated data ecosystem. You'll be building internal services, developing tools for large-scale data collection and quality assurance, and creating database-driven systems that ensure data consistency and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment
• Build and maintain Angular web applications with modern frameworks
• Develop and maintain Java Spring Boot APIs and backend services
• Design and implement database schemas for complex data systems
• Profile and optimize query performance in backend applications
• Participate in architectural discussions to design scalable and resilient systems
• Collaborate directly with Product and Design teams on feature scoping and design
• Work in multidisciplinary teams and interface with engineers across various domains
• Document your work in shared knowledge base platforms
• Occasionally provide technical assistance to customer support teams

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience
• Demonstrated experience programming in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Angular
• Demonstrated experience programming in Kotlin or Java
• Strong experience working with SQL and designing database schemas
• Ability to reason about and debug complex systems and applications
• Experience with Git code management
• Very strong attention to detail
• Proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong prioritization abilities and a can-do attitude
• Located in or willing to relocate to Cologne, Germany
