About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Sr. Product Engineer to join their AI-powered product team. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in the USA.

Our client is building AI-driven customer experience tools used by thousands of organizations worldwide. This role sits on the team responsible for shipping production-grade AI features—assistive experiences powered by large language models that must be fast, trustworthy, and genuinely useful in front of real users.

You'll be a full-stack product engineer with strong frontend expertise, building features end-to-end: from retrieval pipelines and agentic workflows through to polished, accessible user interfaces. This means owning both the LLM-backed plumbing and the customer-facing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ship customer-facing AI features across the full stack. Build LLM-backed flows including retrieval (RAG), embeddings, and agentic tool-calling, then deliver fast, accessible, well-crafted UIs. Your strength leans frontend, but you take initiative across every layer.
  • Ensure AI quality and production readiness. Build evaluations, guardrails, and monitoring into AI features so quality is measurable. Design systems that degrade gracefully when models or providers misbehave.
  • Sweat the front-end craft. The interface is where AI earns or loses customer trust. You care about responsiveness, streaming/loading states, accessibility, and the details that make features feel reliable.
  • Stay close to customers. Join customer calls when context is needed, participate in support escalation rotation, and watch session recordings on your features. Bring that signal back into the work.
  • Own outcomes, not just output. Before projects start, agree on outcome metrics with your PM. Instrument them, watch dashboards post-launch, and decide what to do next based on what moved.
  • Co-author solutions. Bring engineering judgment and craft to product thinking. The best work happens when engineers, designers, and PMs support each other.
  • Build in reliability from the start. Automation, monitoring, alerting, and logging aren't afterthoughts—they're part of how you ship. Own production readiness throughout the lifecycle.
  • Use AI coding tools fluently. Leverage tools like Cursor and Claude Code daily as part of your craft. Help shape the team's AI workflow.
  • Support hiring efforts. Partner with our talent team to interview future teammates.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Strong full-stack capability with a frontend center of gravity—substantial JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience with real front-end craft
  • Experience building production LLM features (not just prototypes): retrieval (RAG), embeddings, prompt engineering, and agentic/tool-calling patterns
  • High bar for AI quality: you think in terms of evaluation, verification, and guardrails; you measure whether features work rather than assuming they do
  • Fluency with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) as part of your daily workflow
  • Customer-focused mindset: you actively seek customer signal to stay connected to whether your work solves real problems
  • Outcome ownership: you measure work by results and are comfortable saying "this didn't move what we hoped, here's what we want to try next"
  • Full lifecycle ownership: automation, reliability, resilience, monitoring, alerting, and logging built in from the start
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfort with remote-first collaboration and code review as teaching/learning opportunities

Nice to Have:

  • Experience making LLM features production-grade: latency/cost tuning, fallbacks and circuit breakers across providers, moderation/safety, handling sensitive data
  • Familiarity with evaluation/observability tooling for AI (LLM-as-judge, test sets, tracing) and building representative eval sets
  • Design sensibility—comfort partnering closely with designers and elevating interface craft
  • Experience in customer support, productivity, or trust-critical tools

Tech Stack: Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, React, PHP, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Kafka, Flink, RabbitMQ, MySQL, PostgreSQL, vector search, LLM tooling, AWS ecosystem
