Sr HVAC Technician

What This Role Involves

As a Senior HVAC Technician with JLL, you'll take ownership of all aspects of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across multiple commercial properties in the San Jose area. This role combines hands-on technical work with mentoring responsibilities, allowing you to grow while ensuring optimal climate control and energy efficiency for our clients. You'll be the go-to expert for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, overseeing preventive maintenance programs, and driving continuous improvement in system performance.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and ductwork
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment lifespan and efficiency
• Lead system installations and upgrades, ensuring compliance with mechanical codes and safety standards
• Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance on service calls and complex problems
• Respond to emergency service requests with efficiency and professionalism
• Document all maintenance, repairs, and system configurations for accurate record-keeping
• Collaborate with facilities managers and property teams to prioritize maintenance needs and schedules

Skills & Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal or Type III minimum required)
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
• Minimum 5+ years of HVAC service and repair experience in commercial environments
• Proven expertise with rooftop units, split systems, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical controls
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members
• Willingness to work flexible hours including on-call support when required
