Software IV&V Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense technology client seeking a Software IV&V Lead to join their team in Munich. Our client develops advanced autonomous systems requiring the highest standards of software quality and safety assurance. This role serves as the independent testing and verification authority, ensuring rigorous validation of complex software systems before deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define and enforce overarching software testing frameworks and QA processes based on ISTQB standards across capability teams
• Manage test infrastructure, tooling, and environments; ensure qualification of testing tools and generation of audit-proof test evidence
• Oversee validation and verification phases of the V-Model, supervising unit, integration, and sub-system-level testing before hardware integration
• Deliver transparency in bidirectional traceability between software requirements, architectural design, implementation, and testing
• Establish and govern defect, deviation, and problem management processes, ensuring systematic tracking and resolution
• Drive adoption of strict coding standards (such as MISRA for C++) using automated static analysis and code coverage metrics
• Verify compliance with Software Configuration Management processes, auditing baselines, versions, reproducible builds, and release packages
• Provide independent quality gate approvals and formal release recommendations for software release candidates
• Lead preparation, execution, and follow-up for internal software QA assessments and external regulatory audits

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience defining and enforcing software testing frameworks and QA processes based on ISTQB standards
• Deep expertise managing validation and verification (V&V) phases of the V-Model for complex software systems
• Hands-on experience with automated static analysis tools and enforcing coding standards such as MISRA for C++
• Strong background in requirements traceability and managing interfaces between software requirements and test execution
• Solid knowledge of Software Configuration Management (SCM) processes, including version control, reproducible builds, and release auditing
• Demonstrated capability in defect and deviation management with systematic tracking and resolution
• Professional experience within defense or aerospace sectors working with safety-critical software systems (preferred)
• Familiarity with preparing for and leading external regulatory audits and internal quality assessments (preferred)
• Experience with flight testing operations or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration environments (preferred)
