Software Engineer (Scala)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building critical distributed ledger infrastructure for global financial markets. Our talent team is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with deep Scala expertise to join a sophisticated engineering effort focused on next-generation digital finance technology.

This is a remote opportunity based in Poland, offering the chance to work on cutting-edge distributed systems that will power consequential market infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features end-to-end, from specification through testing, code review, and production deployment
• Build distributed ledger technology components that demand the highest levels of correctness and reliability
• Maintain rigorous standards for code quality, comprehensive test coverage, and clear documentation in a codebase where precision is paramount
• Collaborate effectively within a globally distributed Agile team, coordinating across multiple time zones using asynchronous-first communication practices
• Participate actively in architecture discussions and technical decision-making processes

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional Scala development experience with strong command of functional programming patterns including typeclasses, effect systems, immutability, and referential transparency
• Deep understanding of the Scala type system, including implicits/givens, type inference, and leveraging compiler features for correctness guarantees
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts: consensus mechanisms, fault tolerance, eventual consistency, and partition handling strategies
• Experience working with gRPC, Protobuf, and service-oriented architectures
• Strong communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• High degree of autonomy, accountability, and ownership in delivering quality outcomes
• Ability to provide constructive, well-reasoned feedback during technical discussions

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with Canton and/or Daml technologies
