Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Global Indirect Tax Manager based in the United Kingdom. In this role, you will own and build critical elements of a scaling global indirect tax function across B2B and B2C revenue streams, including US sales and use tax, VAT/GST, digital services taxes, and other transactional taxes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing indirect tax registrations, return compliance, payments, exemption documentation, taxability determinations, and related controls across multiple jurisdictions
  • Owning and improving indirect tax processes and systems, including product and taxability mapping, exemptions, transaction testing, system integrations, data validation, and issue resolution
  • Serving as the indirect tax cross-functional partner for new products and initiatives, commercial arrangements, billing changes, and geographic expansion
  • Monitoring and implementing evolving e-invoicing, digital reporting, and real-time reporting requirements
  • Performing indirect tax account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, close activities, and internal controls
  • Advising on the indirect tax provisions of customer and vendor agreements, invoicing requirements, and available exemptions
  • Managing indirect tax audits, notices, and disclosures
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and assessing their impact on the business
  • Developing scalable processes, automation, metrics, and documentation that improve data quality, reduce manual work, and strengthen operational controls
  • Contributing to broader tax team priorities and ad hoc projects as business needs evolve

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, or a related field
  • 6+ years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or a multinational corporate tax function, including meaningful hands-on operational experience
  • Technical and operational experience with both US and international indirect taxes, including B2B and B2C transactions
  • Experience researching product and service taxability, registration and nexus obligations, place-of-supply rules, invoicing requirements, and exemptions
  • Experience supporting indirect tax compliance, accounting, audits, and controls across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ability to understand end-to-end transaction flows and convert tax requirements into workable processes, data requirements, and system configurations
  • Strong project-management skills and experience supporting system changes or other cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-moving and evolving environment
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, curiosity, and commitment to developing durable solutions rather than temporary workarounds

Preferred qualifications:

  • Vertex experience is highly preferred, particularly with rule or product mapping, transaction testing, system integrations, configuration changes, data validation, reconciliations, and production troubleshooting (experience with another enterprise indirect tax engine will also be considered)
  • Experience with indirect tax issues affecting technology, digital media, advertising, subscriptions, or other high-volume transactional businesses
  • Experience implementing e-invoicing, digital reporting, or real-time reporting requirements
  • Experience working with ERP, billing, procurement, and financial-reporting systems and analyzing large transactional datasets
  • Experience with automation or data tools such as Alteryx or SQL
  • A CPA, CMI, MST, JD, LLM, or comparable professional qualification
  • A combination of public accounting and in-house experience
