About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential text-to-speech technology organization serving tens of millions of users globally. Our talent team is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Platform team in Belfast, working in a fully distributed environment.

The Platform team owns critical backend infrastructure: public APIs, payments, subscriptions, authentication, consumption tracking, and analytics—serving users across multiple client platforms including mobile, desktop, and web applications.

These systems demand absolute correctness. Subscription state must remain consistent across multiple clients and app-store billing systems. Consumption metering must be precise enough for billing while remaining cost-effective at scale. External customers depend on API latency and uptime for their own products.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, authentication, consumption tracking, and public-facing services
• Take ownership of existing services and improve their performance, cost efficiency, and reliability
• Establish correctness before shipping changes and implement automated checks to maintain quality over time
• Automate operational tasks to free capacity for higher-impact work
• Create reusable solutions and processes for the entire team
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for external customers building on the platform
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction

What We're Looking For

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js (required)
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another major cloud provider
• Track record of delegating work you previously owned and demonstrating the value created by that delegation
• Active use of AI agents in your daily workflow—able to describe what runs unattended, what you review, and where human oversight is required
• Instinct to verify results against primary sources (logs, database state, actual requests) rather than summaries
• Strong judgment about scope—knowing what not to build and articulating why
• Preference for being corrected over being right
• Preferred: Docker and containerized deployment experience
• Preferred: Experience deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes
