Software Engineer Backend – (Senior)

Responsibilities

We are representing a leading technology consultancy in Latin America, and we're seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join their team in Chile. In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services following software engineering best practices
• Build and scale robust, data-driven APIs with strong security practices
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Collaborate closely with business experts, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to deliver iterative value
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following quality and architectural standards
• Design and implement unit, integration, and contract tests to ensure software reliability
• Work alongside infrastructure and delivery teams to ensure efficient CI/CD pipelines and secure deployments
• Deploy solutions in cloud environments with attention to scalability, security, and resilience
• Monitor production performance through metrics and alerts, proactively identifying and resolving incidents
• Document technical solutions and share knowledge to strengthen team maturity

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a backend engineer with strong technical foundations and collaborative skills:

• Experience developing secure REST APIs with a strong understanding of API security and secure data transfer practices
• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for building robust, scalable backend services
• Strong experience with SQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization
• Deep understanding of Design Patterns and SOLID principles for maintainable, scalable software design
• Proficiency with Git version control in collaborative development environments
• Experience with automated testing to ensure software quality and stability
• Knowledge of secure data handling throughout the development lifecycle
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Proactive, autonomous work style with a team-oriented mindset
