Site Reliability Engineer -Cloudstore (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their Cloud Store team in Köln. Our client is building the framework to automate and standardize deployment on top of their on-premise cloud platform, with a focus on air-gapped environments and edge technologies.

This is a permanent position working with cutting-edge technologies in Kubernetes, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code. You'll be part of a collaborative team driving automation and continuous improvement in a security-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the framework for packaging and deploying cloud store solutions on the platform
• Drive ongoing development of the Kubernetes stack and implement GitOps workflows using tools like FluxCD
• Support and onboard other teams with the platform and framework
• Actively participate in system analysis and derive improvements, even when requirements are ambiguous
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Terraform
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability
• Work with the tech stack including Kubernetes, GitOps, Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Linux, OpenStack, Python, Bash, and Go

What We're Looking For

• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and internals
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially OpenStack, including infrastructure provisioning and management
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, especially Kubernetes
• Skilled in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Hands-on experience with modern observability stacks, including metrics, logs, and traces
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, and Go
• Understanding of security fundamentals including IAM, secrets management, hardening, and compliance
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts such as the CAP theorem, consensus, and fault tolerance
• Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strict documentation discipline
• Ability to thrive in collaborative product-team environments with strong ownership mentality and blameless culture mindset
• Strong communication skills and passion for continuous improvement
