SEO Manager, Expansion Markets

Responsibilities

We are representing a global consumer products organization seeking an SEO Manager for their expansion markets. This hands-on role sits at the intersection of content strategy and product visibility, working across traditional and AI search to drive organic revenue growth.

Traditional SEO:

• Facilitate SEO strategy implementation in expansion markets, recognizing market-specific nuances
• Optimize on-page elements including copy, meta content, headers, and internal linking structure
• Own the organic blog and informational content roadmap to build topical authority
• Identify content gaps through competitor analysis and search demand data
• Brief and collaborate with copywriters and compliance teams to ensure content meets search intent and legal requirements
• Work with PR teams and agencies to develop best-in-class link acquisition strategies
• Support DTC campaigns by aligning search strategy with creative and performance teams
• Collaborate with Performance Marketing to maximize cross-channel budget efficiencies
• Stay current with search engine algorithm changes and adapt strategies accordingly
• Advocate SEO best practices and benefits to the wider team

Merchandising SEO:

• Conduct in-depth, localized keyword research for existing categories, products, and new product development
• Optimize core category and product pages to increase organic visibility and revenue
• Identify and address cannibalization across pages and products
• Work with product teams and merchandisers to align on category structure and naming conventions
• Report on weekly and monthly performance against forecast and KPIs
• Take a data-driven approach and continuously optimize SEO performance, automating where relevant

AI Search & Future Readiness:

• Structure content to win featured snippets, People Also Ask boxes, and AI Overviews
• Identify and optimize for question-based search patterns across all page types
• Monitor AI Overview appearances in Google Search Console and third-party tools
• Track brand and product name appearances in AI-generated responses across Google, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and similar tools
• Stay current with emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) best practices and contribute to internal testing
• Develop guardrails to ensure AI-informed content meets Google's guidelines

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• At least one additional language beyond English; multiple languages preferred (Spanish, Dutch, or Italian desirable)
• 4+ years of hands-on content SEO experience in an ecommerce environment
• In-depth knowledge and experience of content SEO best practices
• Confident use of Google Search Console, SEMrush, Looker Studio, Google Analytics, and PowerBI
• Solid understanding of on-page optimization and keyword research
• Experience developing blog content calendars, conducting article keyword research, and developing content briefs
• Familiarity with AEO practices: featured snippet targeting, People Also Ask, FAQ schemas
• Strong written communication skills with ability to brief and edit content clearly

Desirable:

• Exposure to GEO principles and AI visibility monitoring tools
• Experience working across large product catalogues or multi-category sites
• Strong understanding of Salesforce Commerce Cloud or enterprise ecommerce platforms
• Experience managing agency/vendor relationships
• Awareness of how LLMs surface and cite content, with curiosity to experiment in this space

This is a hybrid role based in London (Battersea Power Station) requiring 3 days per week in the office.
