Senior Software Engineer – IT Risk & Pricing (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their IT Risk & Pricing team. This is a backend-focused role where you'll build systems and services that support risk decisioning, pricing, and data-driven product logic. You'll take end-to-end ownership from concept through production, working closely with analysts, data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

This position offers the opportunity to design impactful features, evolve scalable architecture, and solve complex technical challenges while continuously improving engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and address architectural limitations, making pragmatic trade-offs to evolve systems toward scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
• Act as a technical expert by promoting engineering best practices, facilitating technical discussions, and helping teams align on high-quality solutions
• Build secure, scalable, extensible, and cost-efficient solutions while maintaining high coding and documentation standards
• Break down complex initiatives into manageable workstreams and deliver incremental value through iterative development
• Champion engineering excellence, share knowledge proactively, and support the professional growth of colleagues
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, contribute to design reviews, and address root causes of recurring technical challenges
• Take responsibility for challenging projects and guide team members through technical mentoring and hands-on support
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term system sustainability while looking for opportunities to improve technology, processes, and team effectiveness

What We're Looking For

• Several years of hands-on backend development experience with strong proficiency in PHP (particularly Symfony framework) and Python
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining robust backend systems in production environments, including strong expertise in developing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Hands-on SQL experience in application development, with strong proficiency in relational data modeling (table design, keys, constraints) and writing complex, performant queries
• Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and modern DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure automation
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is highly valued
• Familiarity with Kafka or similar event-driven messaging systems is a strong advantage
• Solid understanding of automated testing strategies, including unit and integration testing
• Product-oriented mindset with focus on building solutions that deliver measurable value
• Strong communication skills and collaborative approach with ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Proactive approach to implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance throughout the software development lifecycle
• Fluent written and spoken English
