Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience

About the Role

We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience to join their productivity engineering organization. This is a high-impact platform role where you'll build the infrastructure that makes hundreds of engineers more productive every day.

You'll join a small, senior team focused on developer productivity—working alongside mobile infrastructure, frontend platform, and design systems engineers. This team owns AI-powered developer workflows, cloud development environments, and the internal developer platform the entire engineering organization builds on.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the platforms behind agentic developer workflows: deploy and configure tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, and ship the skills, plugins, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that run across them
• Design and build product surfaces that engineers and AI agents use daily: self-service workflows in the Backstage developer portal, internal CLIs, IDE integrations, and frameworks for building and deploying agents
• Own and evolve the Cloud Development Environment (CDE) platform for both human developers and AI agents
• Improve build systems, CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and observability that the entire organization depends on
• Prototype and evaluate emerging AI developer tools, making architectural decisions about what to adopt, configure, and scale across a 250+ engineer organization
• Partner closely with engineering teams to identify pain points and ship solutions that move dozens of teams forward

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including cross-team projects with measurable impact on engineering productivity
• Demonstrated experience building developer infrastructure, DevEx, or platform tools at scale (100+ engineer organizations): CDE rollouts, internal CLIs, MCP servers, build/CI systems
• Strong systems thinking: you reason about build pipelines, CI/CD, dev environments, and test infrastructure as interconnected systems, not isolated tools
• A UX mindset applied to engineering systems: you design for personas, journeys, and end-to-end workflows for both people and agents
• Hands-on experience with agentic developer tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with considered opinions about their limits, strengths, and scaling strategies
• Fluency in Go and Python for CLIs, services, MCP servers, and automation, plus TypeScript and React for web UIs
• Experience building infrastructure for AI-native workflows is a strong plus
