Forward Deployed Software Engineer

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer for their Munich office. In this role, you'll work directly with enterprise customers to solve their most complex operational challenges through data-driven solutions. You'll function similarly to a startup CTO—working in small teams with significant autonomy to design, build, and deploy end-to-end solutions that address critical business problems.

This position offers rare exposure to important industries and institutions, where you'll tackle open-ended questions spanning supply chain optimization, fraud detection, operational efficiency, and more. Your work will involve a dynamic mix of software architecture, large-scale data engineering, custom application development, and strategic customer engagement.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with customers to understand their most pressing operational challenges and design technical solutions
• Own projects from conception through deployment, managing end-to-end execution with minimal supervision
• Build custom web applications and data pipelines to solve complex business problems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product specialists, and client executives
• Wrangle and analyze massive-scale datasets to drive actionable insights
• Travel to client sites as needed (25-50% travel expected) to ensure successful solution implementation
• Make architectural and strategic decisions independently while contributing to team knowledge sharing
• Rapidly learn new technologies, domains, and business contexts to deliver value quickly

What We're Looking For

• Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related fields
• Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
• Highly analytical mindset with experience or strong interest in solving business problems using large-scale data
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working in rapidly changing environments with dynamic objectives and iterative processes
• Ability to work independently, learn continuously, and make decisions with minimal supervision
• Fluency in German (required)
• Ability to obtain or currently hold security clearance
• Willingness to travel regularly to client sites across Germany and potentially Europe
