About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AI compute organization in Cambridge that is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the quality gate for drivers powering next-generation AI systems.
In this role, you will join a specialized QA team focused on validating complex Linux device drivers, user space libraries and platform tools. You will design, build and run tests that ensure driver releases are reliable, robust and production ready. Your work will span component testing, system testing, user acceptance and cross-stack validation.
This position offers deep systems work with technical breadth across hardware, firmware, drivers and higher-level software. You will stay hands-on while shaping test strategy, infrastructure and coverage. You will collaborate closely with development, hardware, firmware, ML stack, Kubernetes and cloud management teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and run comprehensive test suites for Linux device drivers and user space libraries
- Shape test strategy, infrastructure and coverage for production software releases
- Debug complex cross-layer issues using hardware and software tools
- Validate low-level software that connects AI compute products to real system use
- Raise engineering standards and influence technical decisions across teams
- Guide test infrastructure and best practices while maintaining hands-on involvement
- Solve issues spanning hardware, firmware, drivers and higher-level software layers
What We're Looking For
- Deep experience validating Linux kernels and/or device drivers
- Strong test development skills in C++ and Python
- Experience with CI/CD, build tools and modern automated testing practices
- Ability to debug complex cross-layer issues using hardware and software tools
- Confidence shaping test strategy, infrastructure and coverage for production software
- Clear communication skills with the judgement to influence technical decisions across teams
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
