Senior Systems Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI hardware organization seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is a hands-on role where you will own the reliability and operational excellence of advanced AI compute infrastructure as it moves from lab environments into production data centres.

You will lead diagnostic and engineering support across complex hardware platforms, working directly with failures, thermal systems, power distribution, network configuration and firmware issues. Your work will directly impact platform validation, bring-up cycles and the overall quality of AI compute infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced operational and diagnostic support for AI compute platforms in lab and data centre settings
• Diagnose and resolve failures across server blades, racks, power systems, thermal behaviour and network configurations
• Conduct structured root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for hardware issues
• Support new platform bring-up and validation cycles from early engineering through deployment
• Work with BIOS/BMC systems, system logs, telemetry, power data and thermal metrics to isolate failures
• Improve hardware validation procedures, troubleshooting processes and operational documentation
• Collaborate with hardware engineering, firmware, platform architecture and data centre operations teams
• Guide and mentor junior engineers in hardware diagnostics and engineering best practices

What We're Looking For

• Strong knowledge of server hardware architectures and board-level debugging techniques
• Proven experience isolating failures using system logs, telemetry, power data and thermal metrics
• Hands-on experience with HPC systems, AI compute platforms or rack-scale infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to lead structured root cause analysis and propose practical corrective actions
• Confidence working across engineering, platform and data centre teams in fast-paced environments
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to guide and mentor others
• Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
